Paul McCartney Wings Mull of Kintyre 1977
1977年、ウィングス名義でリリースされたポール・マッカートニーのソロ時代を代表する曲です。
「全英1位」というと凄いイメージがありますが、実際はマーケットの規模が日本より小さいので「オリコン1位」のほうが売上げ規模は大きくなります。
ポールがソロになってから初の全英1位となったこの曲、英国としては前代未聞の約220万枚を売上げて、それまでのビートルズの「シー・ラブズ・ユー」の全英記録を塗り替えたそうです。
オリコン記録の「およげ！たいやきくん」に比べたら3分の1にも満たないですがｗ
それだけイギリス本国では売り上げたこの曲ですが、因みに全米では33位どまりです。ローカル色が強すぎたのでしょうか。
